WHY WE BUILT THIS
Like a lot of people in the West, wildfire was always somewhere in the back of our minds. You see the smoke every summer, you watch the news, you think about it for a day — and then life moves on. It always seems to happen somewhere else.
That changed in the summer of 2023. The North Lake Fire wasn't a big fire. But it got within a quarter mile of our home in Whitefish. Close enough to smell. Close enough that we stopped telling ourselves it couldn't happen in our neighborhood.
Because it almost did.
Once that switch flips, you can't flip it back. We started digging into what actually works — what professional fire crews do to protect structures, what the research says, what homeowners in high-risk areas have done successfully. The answer kept pointing to exterior sprinkler systems. Proven technology, used by fire professionals for decades, that simply wasn't available in any practical form for the average homeowner.
So we built it. We started with our own properties, tested everything ourselves, and eventually our neighbors started asking about it.
That's how Headwater Fire started. No grand plan — just a close call that we couldn't stop thinking about.

THE FOUNDERS
HARRY
Harry has spent the last decade in the startup world founding companies, investing, and operating. In his free time you'll find him on the river, skiing, fishing, or just about anything outdoors.
RISHABH
Rishabh studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan with a minor in Electrical Engineering. He spent five years at SpaceX as a manufacturing engineer. In his free time you'll find him driving the country in his RV, skiing, hiking, and climbing.
MAX
Max studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan with a minor in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. He has spent the last two years living in Jackson Hole, Wyoming — skiing, climbing, hiking, and spending about 90% of each day outside.
